Here are the facts about mold as outlined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC)

  1. Mold exists everywhere both indoors and outdoors and thrive in warm, damp and humid conditions
  2. The CDC does not generally recommend routine testing for mold and there are no universally accepted standards for testing.
  3. If you see or smell mold it should be removed.
  4. Mold can be removed with household cleaners, caution should be exercised when treating mold (see links for further information)
  5. Your inspector will look for sources of moisture, which mold needs to grow, in addition call out any visible signs of mold
